As an educated 50-year-old female professional raised in a conservative Christian military household, I've been a fiscal conservative and registered Republican most of my life, voting almost exclusively along party lines—until 2016.
While it's nothing new to be uninspired and even disillusioned with candidates and elected public officials, what we've witnessed over the last four years feels profoundly different—and dangerous—for our country as a whole, and for many individual American citizens. I believe that women especially know this is true, even if it's just a gut feeling.

It took XX years of grueling effort on the part of suffragettes before America’s conservative men allowed women the vote. Most of the world allowed women to vote before we did. It is my feeling, therefore, that either failing to vote, or voting the way someone else wants us to is the worst squandering of the primary gift granted to us as American citizens.
Educating ourselves in the digital era sometimes feels overwhelming. There is more information being communicated on more platforms than ever before, but extreme diligence and much effort is required to verify what we read, hear, and see in order to judge what is true and what is a lie.
